The best solution is to download the latest version of AOL's software (Version 6.0 as we write this) by going to keyword: upgrade. The upgrade is free and versions are available for Windows and Macintosh. The latest version should make your entire Internet surfing sessions more enjoyable due to new features and upgrades in AOL's software. Also note that AOL "caches", or copies, our site into its main computers as a way to speed the viewing time of pages for its members, so you may not necessarily be viewing the most current news on our site.

5. My e-mail program doesn't support
graphically enhanced e-mail like "HTML" e-mail.
I can't receive documents with photos, video or audio
clips. Can you send me the newsletters in a text-only
format?
We only offer our newsletters in HTML format. If your e-mail program does not allow you to view HTML e-mail, you can go to http://www.yahoo.com or http://www.hotmail.com and sign-up for a free e-mail account that does support graphically enhanced e-mail. You can then have your newsletters sent to that new e-mail address. To update the e-mail address in your registered account, please do the following:
6. I accidentally deleted this week's newsletter from my inbox before I had a chance to read it. Could you please resend it to me?
7. I use AOL, and I haven't been receiving
any of the newsletters I signed up for at KHOU.com.
Can you help me?
All
of KHOU.com's newsletters are graphically-enhanced.
If you have AOL's "Mail Controls" set on your
AOL account to block any e-mail containing graphics, our
newsletters will not come through to your in-box. To deactivate
this filter, go to the keyword "Mail Controls"
on AOL and follow the simple instructions. Once this filter
is removed from your AOL e-mail account, you should start
receiving the newsletters in your in-box.

9. I am an AOL user, and I
want to know why there are all these extra spaces in you
newsletter?
When
you go to the Web to read one of our HTML-formatted newsletters
and click to open the message, AOL puts that message through
a filter to insert HTML line breaks at the end of the every
line of code in the message. The HTML will still parse correctly,
but the resulting newsletter has an abundance of blank space
breaking up the layout. Unfortunately, we cannot prevent
this from happening unless you upgrade to the latest AOL
version 6.0, which is completely HTML compatible. This upgrade
is free from AOL, and only takes a few minutes to complete.
To upgrade to version 6.0, go to http://www.aol.com
and enter the keyword "Upgrade."

10. I use Microsoft Outlook. Will I be able to read the newsletters from KHOU.com?
If you
use Outlook 98 or Outlook 2000, you will be able to read
our newsletters in their HTML format. However, neither Outlook
97 nor Outlook Express is compatible with HTML-formatted
e-mail. If you have an older version of Outlook or Outlook
Express and don't wish to upgrade to an HTML compatible
version at this time, you could also go to http://www.yahoo.com
or http://www.hotmail.com
and sign-up for a free Web-based e-mail account. Both Yahoo!
and Hotmail will allow you to receive the newsletters and
read them from your Internet service without any difficulty.

13. Hotmail is my e-mail service
and I don't seem to be receiving any of the newsletters
I subscribed to. Can you help me?
Hotmail often treats our newsletters as bulk mail (or spam mail). Hotmail offers an "Inbox Protector" which automatically filters out any bulk mail or spam mail to all intended recipients. In order to receive your newsletters, you will need to set a filter and direct your newsletters to your inbox or folder of choice. Here's how:
14. Yahoo! is my e-mail browser and I don't seem to be receiving any of the newsletters I subscribed to. Can you help me?
Eudora 5.0 and later are completely compatible with our HTML newsletters, but earlier versions of Eudora are not HTML compatible. If you have an older version of Eudora and don't wish to upgrade to an HTML compatible version at this time, you could also go to http://www.yahoo.com or http://www.hotmail.com and sign-up for a free Web-based e-mail account. Both Yahoo! and Hotmail will allow you to receive the newsletters and read them from your Internet service without any difficulty.

16. Novell's GroupWise is my e-mail program, and all I receive is a blank e-mail with an attachment. How can I read your newsletter?
If you
receive an envelope icon attached to the blank e-mail, you
can read the newsletter by "dragging and dropping"
the envelope icon onto your desktop, renaming the file with
an ".html" extension, and opening the renamed
file with a browser.

17. I use Novell's GroupWise,
and all I receive from you is a blank e-mail - no text,
no graphics, no attachment. What happened to the newsletter?
If you
are subscribed to the newsletter at a work address, and
your employer does not allow Internet access to the employees,
you won't be able to receive our newsletter. All our newsletters
are formatted in HTML, and you must have Internet access
to receive them via e-mail. We suggest acquiring Internet
access at another location like home or school.

18. I use a Mac computer, and your
newsletters appear as just a bunch of garbled computer code
on my screen. Is there a compatibility problem with your
newsletters and the Mac format?
All
our newsletters are completely compatible with both the
Mac and PC formats. The problem is with the html-compatibility
of your e-mail program. Please find your e-mail program
in our FAQ's for the solution.
